The truth on *MLM (Multilevel Marketing or Network Marketing) is that it really is one to the few home based business opportunities or business models that you can count on to actually make you a good living from home. It takes only average intelligence and no special skills or education. And, you can start part-time while still holding on to your day job.

Truth On MLM #1 – Are you a people person?

Do you enjoy making new acquaintances and helping others? Network Marketing is about building relationships with other people, and helping them succeed. In fact, it’s the only business model in the World where your MLM success depends on the success of others. No dog-eat-dog here.

These are skills that anyone can master, unless you're a hermit (or hermitess) that would rather curl up on the couch with the remote, and won’t even answer the phone. Actually, I have observed that women are often better networkers than men, because they are better and more prolific communicators. But, those are acquired skills that you can easily obtain.

If you are not a people person, or are unwilling to become one, then keep looking for other types of home based business opportunities. MLM is not for you.

Truth On MLM #2 – Are you willing to grow personally?

There is a great truth about network marketing that most novices don’t know. When people are looking for a network marketing opportunity, they don’t join just a company, they join a person or a group that they perceive will bring value to the equation. Let me repeat that. They don’t join your company, they join you, IF…

The “if” is that they must perceive you as someone who will add to their success. You don’t have to be pretty, trim or even charismatic. They don’t want to date you – they just want to succeed.

If you already have a successful track record in this industry, learn to tell that story. If not, I can teach you how to instantly brand yourself as a leader and posture youself as a person who brings real value to your prospects. But you must be prepared to grow.

Truth On MLM #3 – Are You A Self-starter?

All of my adult life I have worked for myself. As the boss, no one ever told me when to go get up, when to go to work, or when to go home. If you want the benefits that home based business opportunities offer, you must be prepared to shoulder the responsibility.

You gotta be able to force yourself to work, even when there is something great on TV to watch. You must have a strong work ethic, that will make you strong enough to put in the time building your business, even when it’s nice outside, the fish are biting, or the kids or the dog want to play.

Have you heard any of these MLM lies?

Just join and this program builds itself;
I’ll build your downline for you;
Get in now and you’ll get massive spillover; or
Building this business is no work at all.

They are all lies! If anyone tries to recruit you with such nonsense, don’t join them. They only want your money, not your success.

So, if you are a people person, willing to grow and become more valuable to others, and you’re a self-starter ready to treat your opportunity like a business, then MLM may be right for you. If not, keep your day job.
